Kealakekua Bay - Place of Refuge Tour

Service Description

This magical tour starts with sampling some of the best fresh roasted Kona Coffee at historical Greenwell Farms, sure to give you a great start to your day. Greenwell Farms is located on Scenic Mamalahoa Highway, where our famous 34 mile long "Kona Coffee Belt" is located. I'll take you on a short tour of the plantation before we head down to the Bay. ​ The drive down to Kealakekua Bay is as curvy as it is spectacular, winding down through tropical jungle from 1500' elevation to sea level. We'll check out the visitor area to view the Bay and Captain Cook Monument before heading to the park for a deli-style picnic lunch. We'll go on a short hike to explore the tide pools and breathe in the Aloha Spirit of this sacred place. ​ ​ The City of Refuge (Pu'uhonua o Honaunau), next up, is quite a historical site. Where ancient lawbreakers could go to be exonerated by the Kahuna, and also during battle, warriors could go for a time-out in a designated safe space, and could pledge their allegiance to the victor of the battle. This place is the finest example of a Pu'uhonua in all of Hawaii. It exudes the peace and tranquility of its' name to all who visit here! A historical treasure to explore! ​ Our last stop is right next-door, Two-Step beach, famous for its' easy ocean entry and fabulous coral reefs. You'll spend some time in the warm ocean before heading back to Kona town. ​ What to bring: Sunscreen, swimsuit, beach towel What to wear: Comfortable shoes and breathable clothing, hat, sunglasses. Provided: Water, deli-style picnic, fruit, green iced tea.

Cancellation Policy

For cancellations, there will be a 20% cancellation fee for cancellations requested up to 2 months prior to the beginning of your booking service start date. If your cancellation request is within 2 months of your service beginning date, the cancellation fee with be 25%. Cancellation requests should be made by emailing me through this website. You must provide your name, the date of your tour or service, and what method of payment that you used. Due to the limited spaces available for our private tours or services, there will be no refunds if requests are made within 2 weeks of your booked tour or service. If there are openings available, we will make every attempt to assist you to reschedule your tour or service, if you choose.
